We just setup a branch office via CISCO VPN over ADSL. We then began
migrating Windows XP workstations from the workgroup to the domain and this
works fine. The problem I have is I am unable to add our PCADMINS group to
the local administrators group and group policies are not being applied.
The system reports that the PCADMINS object cannot be found. The event log
reports no authentication protocol was available and no logon servers are
available. All other functions such as logon, accessing shares, joining the
domain function, ping, nslookup and email with exchange 2k work properly.
I have tried the following:
syncronizing time with the domain
resetting the secure channel
removing from and adding back in to the domain
all patches
removed extraneous programs
DNS works
WINS works
ping, Nslookup, tracert work properly
ensured the new subnet was entered into AD
even brand new computers are failing in the same way,
Any suggestions would be appreciated, I am surely beside myself over this
one, and technet has nothing on it.
