Hi, I have to wait up to 30 seconds before I can log in
and get the above message in the event log.

The KB article says that there is an update if you contact
microsoft, but I can only find options for contract
support or pay support. One of the pages says that you can
contact via SUPPORT.MICROSOFT.COM but I can't find the
link.

Anyone point me in the right direction

In the article you seem to have read, note:

Hotfix information
A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended
to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to
systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive
additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this
problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Windows 2000
service pack that contains this hotfix.

****To resolve this problem immediately, contact Microsoft Product Support
Services to obtain the hotfix. For a complete list of Microsoft Product
Support Services phone numbers and information about support costs, visit
the following Microsoft Web site:

Thanks Chuck,

But it doesn't really answer the question. I'm having the
same problem on a number of machines and I'm looking for
somewhere to download the hotfix from. Yes, the link gives
various ways to contact MS Support, but they're either
rather costly or tell me to visit an OEM that won't be
able to provide the hotfix anyway. I'm running W2K sp4 but
the issue still hasn't been addressed. If anyone knows the
whereabouts of this file, pleasse could they post.

Thanks,
Ed

Chuck thanks for the response, as Ed says, I did note what
the page says, that is why I posted here so see if anyone
could point me in the right direction as when you go to
Support.mic.... there is no obvious link for free updates
and the only obvious ones are where MS can make money
rather than fix a problem they caused
