Hello,

Can somebody tell me if this message's to be concerned ?
This message's appeared on one of the 4 DC's we have.

Event Type: Error
Event Source: NTDS Database
Event Category: Internal Processing
Event ID: 1168
Date: 6-10-2003
Time: 11:00:50AM
User: N/A
Computer: ServerName
Description:
Error 8430(20ee) has occurred (Internal ID 20612ee). Please contact
Microsoft Product Support Services for assistance.

Hello!!

This error happens when a child object is found that has no parent it is
usually

harmless and indicates some kind of collision.

example of when you may see this

A user account is updated on one DC and the ou containing that account is
deleted

on another DC before the change is replicated

The child object is replicated to the DC were the ou was removed. that DC
puts the

object in the lost and found and pops that error.

do a Semantic check, on a dc with the errors to make sure the database is
not

corrupt

"c:\ntdsutil

sem d a

go fix

q"

as long as the errors do not continue they can usually be ignored

The general idea appears to be as so.
Event log error messeges tell you of an error that you
don't understand, but makes you concerned right,

Microsoft give you a helpline to phone --- and charge you
$250 dollars a minute or whatever it is for an engineer to
fix it over the phone..

Work it out dude -- they make the errors and have all the
fixes - but it costs you money.

Simple economics that Bill Gates has so cleverly mastered
to become the richest man in the world.

Remember kids a microsoft operating system wont just cost
you money at christmas, you'll be paying for it for the
rest of your life.

Apart from in this particular situation where the original poster was
pointed to information freely available on the Internet which would solve
his problem without cost. A Microsoft employee also freely responded to the
post with the same information. Also remember that support calls to
Microsoft are free if they are related to a bug in the product. Things aint
so bad.
