I have one primary domain controller that is having some issues.
the event id listed above is the only one that is an error in the directory
services. I found on microsoft knowledge base that I should load the latest
SP, so I did and this did not resolve the problem.
When I log on and go to adminstrative tools>Active directory users and
computers, this is the error that I get.
Naming information cannot e located because:
The specified domain either does not exist or could not be located.
Contact your system administrator to verify that your domain is properly
configured and is currently online.
My DC has been operational for a good year and to my knowledge nothing has
been done to it (I do have a co-worker that gets bored and starts doing crazy
things, but he has reasured me that he didn't do anything). I have a client
that I logged onto the day before I found my DC to be having problems and I
logged in fine. Then the next morning my coworker tells me it has problems.
I have run the dcdiag and netdiag and the output looks normal, except for the
line that states: DC discovery test..........:Failed and DC list
test.........:failed.
If i tell it to connect to my server then it will and everything is there,
but he has no idea who it is or what is supposed to be doing.
Any ideas or fix action, so that I don't have to rebuild?
Thanks
Jill
