I have a user who immediately upon domain login (W2K
domain and W2K Pro PC) is notified of working Offline from
an icon in her system tray. This is neither a HW issue as
she can still get served an address and still can browse
the internet and she can ping her PC and others on my
network and can be pinged from other PCs around the
network. The system log is loaded with entries regarding
Event ID 11151 with a source of DNSAPI. I can't mentions
of these in the MS KB. The suggested description for this
event is to run ipconfig /registerdns which doesn't solve
problem. A related possibility is a couple of items
listed in Add/Remove Programs which my other PCs don't
have and they are called "Search Toolbar" and "Tools For
Internet Explorer." Logged on as Local Admin or Domain
Admin, and trying to run any Control Panel utilities I am
notified via a popup message that "Safe Shopping Tool" for
Internet Explorer. Obviously spyware, but when I try to
remove these "Tools" from Add/Remove, the PC alternately
locks up or redirects me to a website that claims the
server is busy and review the stacktrace to properly
remove the program. So I believe this is all related but
I can't kill it off. Any suggestions?
