Event ID 1003

Win2KP, SP4 & LinkSys router: Everyday my event log fills with a bunch
of Event ID 1003 with data=69. I haven't been able to figure out what
to do from the Microsoft support articles. My guess is my DHCP client
attempts to verify its LAN IP address but either the "question" or the
"answer" gets dropped. My computer retransmits and the cycle repeats
until the max count is exceeded.

Guessing further, I believe DCOM is not configured properly because the
problem started about a year ago when I was noodling the Services.
NTDSUTIL doesn't provide any help -- most of the commands don't do
anything. TIA

When you view the logged events in Event Viewer (double-click them in the
right-hand pane) in the upper right corner, third button down is a copy to
clipboard, then you can paste in the body of a reply message.

Please do so for each of the different System Log events (that are a Type:
'Error' or 'Warning') since last boot so we can see all of the event detail.

This ends in one error:
Event Type: Error

I would have blamed the network interface but you mentioned service
noodling. I don't really know what that means but I would agree it's
suspect. I'd restore the system hive from a known good backup.
