Hello,

I'm considering upgrading my RAM to a Gig. Even with a Gig of RAM
installed, do you still need a pagefile? Or is it OK to disable it?

Would performance improve or suffer without a pagefile and a Gig of RAM
installed?

System Specs:
2.8Ghz Dell Dimension 4500
768mb of RAM
36 Gig Western Digtial Raptor 10,000 RPM SATA drive
250gig Maxtor 7200 RPM drive w/16mb cache
Creative Lab Audigy 2 sound card
8x Sony DVD Burner
52x Lite-On CD-RW
256MB ATI Radeon 9600XT

Thanks,

Jeff

You still need one. See "How to Configure Paging Files for
Optimization and Recovery in Windows XP"

Suffer rather than improve. BTW: if you do not use RAM-intensive
software like games or picture editing programs you should have a need
to upgrade the RAM at all. If you are short on disk space, a larger
HDD is the better solution.

Yes - but qualified!

It depends upon your usage. I have 1.5 gig and my pagefile is still utilized
heavily when using certain programs (especially Microsoft VirtualPC and
VMWare Work Station).
