Hi

Has anyone got the real-time scanner option to work? I keep on getting the
trayicon indicating a problem. I have re-installed numerous times, tried
different computers all running Windows XP SP2

eTrust AntiVirus worked fine for me under Norton Internet Security 2003
(with its firewall). I then purged my system of Norton to trial the
freebie Sygate Personal Firewall with no problems. When I tried
ZoneAlarm 5.1, eTrust got killed with its tray icon showing it was
disabled. I believe the Computer Associates branded ZoneAlarm included
in their EzArmor suite (firewall & antivirus) is back at version 4.x.
So you could use the older ZA firewall or use a different one. You
never mentioned what firewall you were using.

No firewall

CA told me they were using the free Zone Alarm version 4.xxx (can't remember
latest version numbers) as their rebadged firewall.

I downloaded the EZ Armor LE which is the free one MS is offering and
unchecked the firewall installation......the version of EZ Trust is older
than what I was using, but one plus is that it doesn't scan downloading
email.....a feature I had removed in the later one.

works fine for me, i installed the upgraded version after a clean install

Right-click the tray icon and select Protection Status. What does it
show? Right-click the tray and select Remove From Tray. Run
c:\program files\ca\etrust ez armor\etrust ez antivirus\cavtray.exe
.... does the tray status change?

.... and try eicar to confirm if it's really working... in all
probability, it's just the status which is showing up incorrectly

Hi

Does not change, under scan settings all options are selected, but the
program still reports that the real-time scanner is not active

My neighbour had a similar issue - not sure whether a complete wipe and
reinstall cured it or that PLUS changing the proxy setting to "not use" from
"auto detect" and running the update again. Suggest you do both (I have
always noticed trouble with the proxy autodetect - and that seems to be the
default setting for proxy).

And, yes - I do realize that real time protection on/off should have nothing
to do with the proxy setting...
