Ethernet trouble

Forgive me if I am in the wrong place to ask for help
with this problem. I recently got Bellsouth DSL service.
I was running this connected to my ethernet port. My
computer locked up on my daughter and the only thing she
could think to do was unplug the computer. I lost my
entire operating system. Since then, I havedownloaded
everything I had from disks included with my system and,
later, from the internet. However, when I tried to use my
ethernet port, my computer tells me that the ethernet
controller is not installed. Any help or suggestions that
can be given to solve this problem would be greatly
appreciated. Thank you.

Well, I just spent a few minutes looking around on your
computer (remember - you did ask for help) and I saw that
your NIC drivers are not installed. Go to the
manufacturers web site and download/install the latest
Windows XP drivers for your NIC (network interface card)!

It would probably be to his advantage to install the complete set of Mother
Board drivers, as this includes sound, video, IDE, and others (usually)!
