To get prepared for DSL connection ( AT&T Yahoo!), I read from the
installation guide that I will need a Ethernet card installed if I am
connecting via the Ethernet port on my pc ( can I have DSL connection without
using Ethernet card and Ethernet port/Network adapter? ).

After I ordered a Ethernet 10/100 PCI Network Interface Card from
sbcdslstore.com, I noticed under Control Panel/Network Connections/Lan or
High-Speed Internet/Local Area Connection, that I do have a CNet PR0200WL
PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter .
Is this CNet PR0200WL PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter same as so called Ethenet
card I need for DSL connection to the internet?
If yes, does this Ethernet Adapter work just same as the one I ordered from
the store?

Appreciate very much if some one kindly tell me how to configure Local Area
Connection Properties.

All along I am used to MSN Dial-up using MSN Explorer. Can I continue to
use MSN Explorer when my DSL is connected. What kind of membership with MSN
should I remain or subscribe?

Much thanks

Hoping no one will mind these silly questions from a 65 person.

Many thanks.

Yes.

I suppose you want a more detailed answer than that. ;-)

The words 'ethernet' and 'network' are synonymous. There are other ways
to create a network, but ethernet is most widely used.

I don't know if there's another way to get a DSL connection, but
ethernet is almost always what is used and that's what you want.

To connect to a network - which in your case, is the internet - you need
a network card installed in your computer. Your CNet adapter is a
perfectly good network card. Send the card you ordered back.

Your installer will have complete directions on how to setup your DSL
connection.

Network and Ethernet are not synonymous. Network means connecting several
computers/PCs/other devices with a single cable. Ethernet is a type of
network. The other types of network are:

Token-Ring
USB

and of course the oldest network "Sneaker net" (Sneaker net= put on your
sneakers and get ready to 'run' back/forth between different PCs while
carrying a floppy (or now a USB key or CD/DVD disk.)
