Buffalo

Hi again.
Once again I cannot connect to the Eternal-September newsgroups.
The earlier problem I had was due to my not having the word news. in
front of eternal-september.org as the Server.
That hint worked just great, but now I cannot connect again.
I am using the latest ver of FireFox.
Thanks,
Buffalo

So why is this a Windows XP problem? Seems more likely either PEBCAK
or yet another outage at ES (aka Motzarella). Go bother the folks in
the alt.free.newsservers group (lurk first to go read the other posts
since your question may already be answered).

And what does HTTP have to do with NNTP?

It's not an XP problem. Jeez.
I just figured that someone in this NG uses Eternal-September and could tell
me if they were having connection problems or not.
Sorry I frick'in bothered you Vanguard.
Go pick on others to make your day more pleasant.

PS: Your response helped a lot. :)

There have been a few problems with the Eternal September server
names / DNS lookups.

I thought the DNS issue had been resolved. However, you could
try changing the server name to '62.141.42.50' (without the
quotation marks). That should overcome any DNS lookup problems.

The Hooplehead Alert stands. This isn't a Windows XP issue.

The Hooplehead Alert stands. This isn't a Windows XP issue.

But if the OP's only USENET access is through Eternal September and it's
not working, why should he not turn to a group of "friendly" folks who
might be able to supply some insight to his problem?

Thanks, it started working again this am.
I will keep your response for future reference.
Thanks again,

Then, in theory and best practice, the subject should have been...

I'm sure that the OP, being suitably chastened and humbled, will
remember this lesson, long after this news server is gone.

I definately will remember this.
No question.
The arrogance and pomp is quite overwhelming.
Live long and prosper! :)

Peter is still an a-hole in most of the ng's that I look at.
