I have a very slow dial up connection. I have automatic updates on and have
been leaving my computer connected to the internet continuously. I am
wondering when I will be able to download XP SP2? Does anyone have any idea?
I am trying to be patient, but it seems like it may be months before I get
it. Any help would be gretly appreciated.

If you have a friend with broadband get them to download this service pack
here;

Windows XP Service Pack 2 Network Installation Package for IT Professionals
and Developers
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...BE-3B8E-4F30-8245-9E368D3CDB5A&displaylang=en

It's a 272 mb download which includes ALL the patches and fixes for XP from
the first version. It's designed for network pc's that may have different
levels of patches and updates, plus all the new SP2 stuff so it is a big
download but when it installs on your computer, depending on how vigilant
you have been keeping your system patched it may only be a installation
package of between 20 & 80 mb. Get your friend to burn it to a CD-R (safest
format) for you. I have broadband and have downloaded and installed SP2
without a hitch. The only precautions I took were to turn off my AV, screen
saver and internet connection. I burnt myself a copy and first attempted to
install SP2 via the CD but there were file corruptions in the transfer to
the CD. A copy I did for a friend went smoothly via CD. Seeing as how I had
it on my hard drive I installed it from there and the whole thing was over
and done in approx 25 mins with one reboot.

Thanks. I really do not know anyone that has broadband access. I attempted to
download that version but got disappointed and gave up when it was going to
take 14+ hours. Guess I'll just have to wait! Again thanks for your response!

It is hard to tell.
Microsoft is daily limiting the SP-2 installations through Automatic
Update.
It could be today or a few days.for Automatic Update.
