Has anybody tried this program? Especially with
non-English/international character sets

Yes, I am evaluating it right now. It gives you the core of
a functionality, but does not go all the way.. What I mean
is, that there are several programs that will do any specific
function better. You need to decide if you need a
lightweight application (essentialPIM) or a more
comprehensive group of stand-alone apps.

Sorry no input on other language use.

I installed EssentialPIM and used it a bit, and everything runs very well,
also support for non-English characters is very good.

A very nice program!

I'll give it a try in our office (a poor and small non-profit
organization). It certainly looks quite good for a beta version, but I
have not looked at all its features. If I like it I might even replace
XDesk95, which, under a different name, has become $ware. I hope that
will not be the way this software will go.
A nice feature of XDesk95 are the treepad like notes with the
possibility of tables in those notes (with column addition and row
multiplication).
