Yup, I'm stumped ...

System sounds don't play ... well the do, if I go to Sounds & Audio Devices and press the little test button.

Everything else, like music, vids, on-line funnies all play no problem.

Now, I did download the new Beta MP11 but, that was several days ago and all was well till sometime today. They just stopped ... may have gone on holiday I dunno ... strange.

Nothing is muted, I'm siting here listeniing to the Beatles ... but I'm not getting the bing bong of new mail ...

Have you tried a rollback to see if that sorts it? Sometimes I have oddities like this, but a rollback usually does the trick?

All is well ... I err, insalled "new" sound drivers, now I have not. :thumb:

:D

Well, sometime during the day Windows informed me there were updates available ... I do not have auto-update download without me first having a looksee ... and it's not Tuesday.

It was that stupid "Genuine Crap" again ... however, while I was there I had a "custom" look to see what else was available, and saw I had an update to the sound drivers ... I did check, they were for my sound card, nVidia ... well as usual, they mucked up.

Now, this is a laugh ... I just got the exact same ones off nVidia ... and they work.

Twice, just twice, I tried using MS for hardware updates. That was a long time ago.

As I recall both instances resulted in fresh installs. I think.

Whatever, I never ever use MS for hardware updates.

How can they manage to get it so horribly wrong? Quite incredible.
