Here is my configuration. Simple LAN Peer to Peer in a workgroup without a
domain, set up behind a router and two switches. I have my compter set to a
static IP, which is port forwarded to from the router in order to access
files remotely.
Here is my problem. When I have the computer set up with the static IP I can
not view other computers in the same workgroup. I get the error "\\workgroup
is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network
resource. ect...". I am sure some of you have seen this message before.
Now here's the funny part. I can do a search for the computers on the
network and access them all. Can not find nor access my computer from other
computers. I have Enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP under the Advanced--> WINS
configuration.
When I set the TCP/IP to obtain an IP address automatically, all of these
problems go away. I have check all of the DNS,IP's, and gateways, and
everything there is correct........Please help!!
