When re-installing applications on XP, it complains about a missing CAB file from th
CD - which is in fact on the CD

I can work around this for some applictions by installing from my HD - but some applications wil
only install from CD....any one come across this - any work arounds or fixes for this

try cleaning or buying a new cd player. Just had the same problem on a dual
cd player system, one of them just wouldn't read the install cd
consistently.

Had a problem just like that, but it had nothing to do with the ROM drive,
but if you have a spare, i would try it . I had a problem like that and it
happened to be a bad, FULL install of XP and/or a memory issue. Burner
software would not install either. Reloading XP did not work, until we
swapped around the 2 memory sticks; XP then installed and so did the
applications that would not install before. Sorry I cant give you the exact
fix, just wanted you to know it could be something like that also..
