Ok, I did something stupid. I had spyware problems and
in my lame attempt to fix it, I found a bogus file in
windialer that I tried to delete. It wouldn't let me, so
I thought that I would change it to open as a Wordpad doc
thinking it would be an innocuous change. The result is
that ALL my executable files now open as wordpad. I can
open individual files (ie, locate quickbooks file, right
click, open with Quickbooks) but there is no option on
executable files to tell it how to open. I can't open
config, registry, or any other files to try to fix.
Talked to Dell and they were basically no help, but told
me that I would probably have to do a complete reinstall
of XP.

Does anyone know how to fix this problem??? Thanks
