I don't know what the solution is, but just to bring a
bit more info to this; errors.txt (on my machine) takes
up 924 MB, seems to be written every time I boot up, and
Windows XP defragmenter won't touch it - hence it's in at
least 100 different pieces dotted around my hard disc.
All this slows booting up.

Feel free to right-click the Microsoft Antispyware icon in the notification
area, select "shut down....", and delete this file. Then restart Microsoft
Antispyware via the program files icon.

I also have had trouble with the errors.txt log file. In
my case the error log grew overnight to 157mb and filled
the available free space of a win2k server. I found another
200 mb of old profiles to allow the server to work again
before I knew the culprit was MAV and the very next day the
drive was full again. Now I am trying to find a way to
uninstall this wonderful little bit of trusted software.

Any advice on how to kill this beast???

Shut it down, via the notification area icon, then use add or remove
programs, via control panel.

You may want to delete the errors.log file by hand before doing the remove.

I'm somewhat mystified by the continual messages here about how to remove
the program--did you not find it listed in add or remove programs?
