Hi,
I've downloaded the MS Antispyware.exe file and I was able to extract the
..MSI file so that I can repackage it to do an automated installation for
distribution to about 50 PCs. The MSIEXEC command line that is executed is:
MSIEXEC.exe /i "B:\SUBPACK\Microsoft AntiSpyware.MSI" /qn ALLUSERS=1 /lv*
C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\MS_AntiSpyware.LOG where B:\SUBPACK\Microsoft AntiSpyware.MSI
is the network location of the .MSI file.
The package installs successfully when looking at the log file. However, I
have noticed that in the install folder there is an errors.log file that has
the following details:
429::ln 0:ActiveX component can't create
object::gcasServ:modMain:Main::2/13/2006 12:10:46 PM:XP:1.0.701

Can anyone shed some light on what this means? Was the installation
successful?

Hello David,

See the reply to the thread immediately adjacent to this one.

You might want to read some of the other threªds in here.

David--the errors.log file contains quite a bit that you might thing of as
debugging statements.

If you don't seen any clear cut problems with the way the install is
functioning, I would ignore that file--in fact, I'd ignore it always, and
just describe the issues you see--if you find any. We're far better at
taking a symptom and coming up with a corresponding fix, than we are at
parsing what the error log messages mean.

Bill,

Thanks for the follow-up. As mentioned before it was re-packaged for
distribution using the .MSI file and the package was tested and it appears to
install successfully (the MSI log file says that the installation completed
successfully). However, upon launching the application , I get the dreaded
message 'Error Loading Microsoft AntiSpyware' with the Error 101 details...
As Engel suggested, is it worth using this version for Enterprise-wide
distribution?
