errors coming up about files needing replaced.

files that are required for windows to run properly have
been replaced by unrecognised versions.
To maintain system stability windows must restore the
original version of these files.

Anyway come across this before and is there a fix.
All the updates have been done on this PC.
Service pack 1 inclu.

Would love some help on this one

Put the XP CD in the drive
Click START|RUN and type...

sfc /scannow

<enter>

If no go, type...

cmd

<enter>

Then type...

sfc /scannow

Note the space between the "c" and the "/"
