hello,
i am using IE 6.0 and recently i encountered a problem
which is really annoying. every time i close a window
that pertains to IE, it closes all of the windows that are
currently open that are using IE. then an error message
comes up as follows:
this program has performed an illegal operation and will
be shut down if the problem persists contact the program
vendor
then i click details and this is what comes up:
EXPLORER caused an invalid page fault in
module USER32.DLL at 015f:bff558ba.

then once i close that one another error message comes up
as follows:
an error has occurred in IE. IE will now close. if you
continue to experience problems please restart your
computer.

i have tried to reinstall it without any change in the
problem.

can someone please help me?

thank you,

1. Check your system for "hijackware".

Dealing with Hijackware
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm
http://www.mvps.org/inetexplorer/Darnit.htm#tshoot
http://aumha.org/a/parasite.htm

HijackThis (http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/hijackthis.zip) is the
preferred tool to use these days. It will help to both identify and remove
any hijackware/spyware. **Post your files to
http://forums.spywareinfo.com/, not here.**

2. Update your virus definitions and then run a full system scan. From now
on, do both daily.

3. Check in at Windows Update.
