I received the same error from Media Player.
I am running media player version 9 on window xp pro. And
the type of file says ".avi" but I was told it could be a
dvd rip but I am not sure.
I found out what the problem was Windows Media Player will
not play a .avi or other file if there are bad frames in
it. I used Divfix v1.0 and fixed the files and now they
work fine. Here is a link to dnload Divfix.
