1) It could be that the cable on the floppy drive is not
completely seated (check the motherboard connection too),
but only if you've been inside the system recently,
2) The floppy drive may have some foreign object stuck in
it (get a flashlight and peer inside),
3) The floppy disk (not the drive) may be bad (try another
disk),
4) The floppy drive itself may be dirty (I mean on the
inside - sometimes after opening the front flap {where you
insert the disk} and blowing hard into it a few times will
get it to start working but it's not likely),
5) You may get this if the floppy disk is unformatted or
formatted for MAC (not likely),
