The host 'smtp.hotpop.com*, port 25' could not be found. Please verify

You have incorrectly specified your servers....

''smtp.hotpop.com*, port 25' should read ''mail.hotpop.com'
and
'pop.hotpop.com, port 110' should read 'pop.hotpop.com'

Change them via...

Tools > Accounts > your email > Properties > Servers

I follow the steps as stated but i still can't send out any mail? Instead of
hotpop.com can i use gmail?

Thank you.

What was the error this time... all the message please?

Yes, you can use Gmail, I do and it is very good and easy to set up...

Get a Gmail account...

Then set it up in WM as you would with Outlook Express (manually)

http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=13276&hl=en_GB

nb.
Many people overlook the enabling of POP within Gmail
and/or forget to save changes... don't be another bozo!

You can use either, or both Hotpop.com and Gmail.
If you need help, post the exact error message.

Here are the error for hotpop.

The host 'mail.hotpop.com' could not be found. Please verify that you have
entered the server name correctly.
Subject 'someone miss u', Account: 'pop.hotpop.com', Server:
'mail.hotpop.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error:

I have changed the SMTP to "smtp.hotpop.com

The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be
correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this
problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the
"I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining
the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider.

The rejected e-mail address was '(e-mail address removed)'. Subject
'testing', Account: 'pop.hotpop.com', Server: 'smtp.hotpop.com', Protocol:
SMTP, Server Response: '550 <[email protected]>: Recipient address
rejected: Relaying Denied: Authenticate with POP first or contact
(e-mail address removed)', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 550, Error
Number: 0x800CCC79

Did you select "My server requires authentication"
as shown here:
http://hotpop.com/support/client/win/oe6.hsp?STEP=3

If you have done that, and it still doesn't work, you may need
to check mail first and then send. So, click on the arrow next to
Send/Receive and select Receive all; when that finishes do your sending.

Joanne,

You need to change the SMTP server name to "smtp.hotpop.com" (no
quotes) instead of "mail.hotpop.com".

Ok Joanne,

Your almost there.

You need to check "My server requires authentification" under the
"Outgoing Server" section in the Servers tab and click Ok. Do not
change anything in the "Settings" button next to it.

Look at this for a reference.

The message clearly states the option "contact (e-mail address removed)"
what did they have to say for themselves?
Thank you.
