Error with Java Web Start - v1.4.2_04 - Checkerboard pattern?!?

Every time a Java element/applet tries to load web page (or in a
program) my entire screen turns into a black and white checkerboard. I
took a screen shot and put it on my server here:

When this started happening I upgraded to a newer version of Java.
When I uninstall it, I obviously don't have any problems, except that
I can't view any Java.

Has anyone had this problem??? I have had a hard time finding any info
on this anywhere.

Try a previous version. The latest isn't always the greatest.

I couldn't do anything with 1.5o beta 1, switched back to 1.42. You might
have to go back to 1.4. I am not sure but I think the other version has to
be completely gone before you start.
