Error while loading

The first auto opening form of an Access03 mdb the form appears ok, but it
also causes a VB error box to appear stating that "An error occurred while
loading....do you wish to continue?" (it is not a Switchboard)

There is no error message number

Pressing 'yes' allows one to continue and there is no problem (at least that
me or the user has ever experienced)

The user has become accustomed to just ignoring it , but I would like to
better understand what might be the cause - would welcome any advice.

Did you specify the 1st form on the Setup... page or use an AutoExec macro?
If you open the form whild holding down a <SHIFT> key, do you get the same
error if you then try and open the same form?

thanks for taking a stab at this;

It is not an autoexec - the form is designated to open in the StartUp
options from the menu bar.

I haven't had the chance to try it with shift.... and probably won't per
what I next found...

This is a pretty big application; lots of forms/queries; that I did not
write. I made a new form, as requested, which seemed to work fine - but then
I went to put a little vb in one control's AfterUpdate event and vb errored
to say that it 'could not find the file' !! that really freaked me out -
have never seen that....

the form works fine - and yet there is no vb file for it? that really
mystifies me...

So I bailed out on this user's existing application in terms of putting the
new stuff inside their existing application since it obviously has issues. I
instead made the new forms / new functionality into its own new separate .mdb
and linked back to the common back end - and am avoiding their existing
application like the plague.

Have warned user of these corruption symptoms but as long as it is working
they don't seem to want to address it....so...

I would probably try some of the corruption repair ideas on their FrontEnd
before it get any worse. Using a copy of their FrontEnd create a new, empty
mdb that has Tools>Options>General tab Name AutoCorrect turned off. Then
after saving the new mdb, open it and File>Get External Data>Import... all of
the original objects. Then Tools>Database Utilities>Compact and Repair
Database... and then save and close. Here's another undocumented procedure
to try:

For your client's sake, you should probably keep going until the mdb no
longer throws the error. Just my $0.02.
