I am getting a "type of file system is NTFS"

"disk is allready NTFS - setup restarting" and its stuck
in a loop...any suggestions? I cant do a clean
install...there is some data i need on there

You'll never get a stable W2k by trying to upgrade from ME. That upgrade
path is not supported, for good reason: ME is a more recent system than
W2k and the W2k installer can't interpret all the ME settings correctly.
Much better to back up your data in a safe place, then do a clean W2k
install. To save your data, consider installing another hard drive it,
or reconfiguring your main hard drive partitions (if there's space
enough) with a utility like PartitionMagic.

You can search these newsgroups for advice on recovering from what
you're trying to do. I guess it can be done, sort of, but it's iffy,
difficult, and comes with no guarantees. Getting stuck in a loop up
front may be the least of your ultimate problems.
