Error when trying to import contacts

I am having troubel importing contacts and making new contacts. When I select
'Import' I get an error box with a big red X and no text. When I click make
a new contact, a box flashes and then goes away.

Any suggestions?
 
What kind of contact files are you trying to import? Are they .wab files, or
CSV files, or some other format? Where OS and application did you export
them from?
I'd suggest first that you eliminate Windows Mail from the problem and only
worry about it after you verify that Windows Address Book is working
correctly.
Go to Start and enter Windows Address Book in the search box. Click on the
found link up above. Try creating a new contact in WAB. Try importing your
contact file into WAB. If they work in WAB you should be able to see them in
WM. If not, post back because then you know the problem is with WM and not
the file that you're trying to import or it may be that there is something
wrong in WAB so that's why they won't work in WM.
