Hi I have installed Office 2003 (inc Outlook 2003) but when I go to start it
(I upgraded from Oultlook 2000) - I get a message that says "Cannot start
Microsoft Outlook. Unable to open the Outlook window". The set of folders
could not be opened. The server is not available. Contact your administrator
if this condition persists"

I am running on a stand alone laptop with broad band connection, and 756 MB
RAM and a Windows 2000 SP3 OS.

If I repair the installation, it runs fine until the next time I log in when
I get the same message when trying to start Microsoft Outlook

I am not sure what the issue is - can anyone advise ?

Thanks

Kelvin

Try creating a new Outlook profile.

Hi Milly,

I tried setting up a new profile and that didn't work !

Any other suggestions ? (BTW Outlook Express works fine !)

Regards

Kelvin

May I assume you set it up in Internet only mode (vs. corporate workgroup)?
You can check at Tools > Options > Mail Services > Reconfigure Mail Support.
It'll tell you which one is active.

Search My Computer including hidden files and folders, system files, and
subfolders for a file *.pst. It's probably outlook.pst or mailbox.pst. You
may want to try running the Inbox Repair Tool on that .pst file. Here's How:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;EN-US;Q272227&ID=KB;EN-US;Q272227

If that doesn't work, I'd probably uninstall the product, reboot, and then
reinstall the product from scratch.

Good luck!

Just so the original poster is not confused: None of this response actually
applies to Outlook 2003, which does not have separate modes.

OOPS! Sorry about that. I've got to pay more attention - especially when
we're lucky enough to have someone actually provide the version.

I know. I often miss it too when it's in Subject only, not the message.
