Error when receiving fax

I seem to be able to send faxes okay, but I get an error when I receive
faxes. Either just some of the pages come through, or none come through. I
can hear my modem making a faint click when it drops the call. Is there an
updated driver or something? I have MS Fax version 5.1.

Thanks for any help you can give.

There may be an updated driver and/or firmware for your modem (check
your modem manufacturer's page or your laptop mfr's page if you have a
laptop with built-in modem), but that may or may not help. See:

Why do my Fax transmissions fail so often?

How's your phone line in general? Noisy? Weak signal (e.g., far from
the Central Office or far from where the phone line enters your home)?
Multiple splitters/filters between fax modem and wall jack (try
connecting fax modem directly to wall jack -- if you're sharing the line
with DSL, you won't be able to do so while conducting this test)? If
sharing the line with DSL, make sure filters are used for ALL phone
devices connected to the same line (i.e., anywhere in the building).

I don't get errors when I receive faxe's, in fact my monitor shows its
being downloaded and finishes with "success". So where did it go? Its
not shown in the INbox or incoming box. Its not in my folder that I had
setup in XP fax program "My Fax." It is not even shown in a search for
files that end with *.TIF.
