Every time I try to cut and paste Excel creates an error message an
closes down. This has happened several time, although, it only happen
in this one file and it doesn't happen all the time with this file.

This file is accessed/updated by more than one user on a network. Th
network, however, is fine and there are no viruses.

Thanks

Hi
some questions:
- what is the exact error message
- is it a shared workbook
- do you use something like TerminalServer, etc.

1) It just says: "Excel.exe has generated errors and will be close b
Windows. You will need to restart the program. An error log is bein
created"

Just as a note, I'm able to reopen excel to work with other workbook
with no problem. I only see this error on this one workbook.

2) It isn't a shared workbook

3) According to the IT guys we don't use a program lik
"TerminalServer" We do, however, download the latest updates as soon a
they are posted

Hi
sounds like the workbook got corrupted. best idea: copy the data to a
new / fresh workbook

that's the problem....I can't cut and paste anything. The best I can d
is click on the cell, highlight the data inside the cell and the
copy/paste that into another workbook. I can't copy a worksheet int
another workbook (given the fact there is a lot of data, it takes a
least a solid day worth of work...hence the reason I'm so frustrated).

My question would be if it is corrupted...why would it be on this on
workbook and why would it continue to happen. When it happened th
first time, I recreate the entire workbook again. It had worked jus
fine for about a month and then yesterday the new one becam
corrupted...

If you open excel in safe mode, does it change anything?

close excel
windows start button|run
excel /safe

file|open (your workbook)

that doesn't sound good.

You may want to try opening the workbook in xl2002 or xl2003. Sometimes opening
in a newer version and saving them will clean up the corruption--sometimes not!

Same thing could happen in OpenOffice:
(http://www.openoffice.org, a 60-65 meg download or a CD)

Good luck,
