Error when closing file window with Active X sheet in document

Excel 2003 crashes when I close the file window of a file that contains a sheet with Active X contols. If I close Excel completely there is no problem. The problem only occurs when I close the file only, leaving Excel open and running. If I delete the tab containing the Active X controls there is no problem closing only the file window.
