Hi, I run Windows XP SP2 (Which is completely up-to-date) and have a Toshiba
CD-RW and DVD-RW combi drive. I've used it store backups of my files and
recently everytime I try to record to any type of CD an error message appears
saying the disk is either full or unuseable and to try another disk - which I
have. I've also tried disks from different manufacturers and changed the
recording speed to minimum but the device still displays the error. When I
click on properties and hardware it says the device is working correctly, and
when I click check for driver updates it says that the drivers are
up-to-date. I usually use Windows to record to a CD but have also used Sonic
RecordNow which makes no difference. Also I cannot erase data from a RW disk
although Windows tells me it's erased and shows that there is nothing on the
disk when its window is opened. The data is still their if I re-insert the
disk. If anyone can help it would be much appreciated.

Ihad a similar problem that was only fixed by uninstalling sp2. after that I
was able to burn to cd-rw and after I tried to reinstall sp2 I had the same
problem
hope this helps

If I remember correctly the problem did happen after instaling SP2. Thank
you this helps me alot, and I'll think about uninstalling SP2 unless anyone
knows of another way to resolve the problem?

I feel your pain. Seem as though you cannot get a good response from anyone.
All of a sudden every disk I put in my cd/dvd drive, explorer says it full.
Nero cannot access it either. Seem to be OK with CD's. Bought a new
external drive. Put a disk in and low and behold explorer said the disk was
full. So now I know its a Windows problem for XP. Can't find an answer.
Hope that you did and can help me. Thanks, Tom

Hi tom, I never did solve the issue, but it seemed after an update from
Microsoft everything started working again. I'm not sure why. I hope you
can solve your issue as well.

Mike

I am going to try that! this is the best attempt to fix this "seems to be
common" error! thanks again!
