error when accessing directories

I'm running Windows XP and have changed to the screen
saver to access the pictures in "My Pictures" as a slide
show. After this, noticing a directory giving an error
message. Can access some other directories though. The
error receivied is below.

Explorer has encountered an error and will be shut down

Later I restarted, and that fixed the problem. What just
happened.
 
Hi Sam,

Start/run eventvwr.msc, check the system and application logs for clues. Try
the help & support links within each as well.
