Error using spellcheck in Outlook Express 6.0

I recently installed Windows XP on a Emachines computer. It was a clean install and was on a new hard drive. When I try to run spellchecker on my outlook express, I get the following error

AN ERROR OCCURRED WIHILE THE SPELLING WAS BEING CHECKE

I lookup up this error and it said something about a backslash missing in one of the registry keys. I checked the registry key and the backslash is in place.

Does anyone have any other ideas how to fix this problem?

Did you install one of Microsofts office products? A spellchecker is not
included with Windows XP.
