When I try to ADD any DOMAIN Userid to the LOCAL ADMINISTRATORS GROUP, I can
view the LOCAL MACHINE and DOMAIN in the "Look in" drop down list and I am
allowed to choose any Userid but an error "PROCESSING OF OBJECT <USERNAME>
FAILED WITH FOLLOWING ERROR: THE SPECIFIED DOMAIN EITHER DOES NOT EXIST OR
COULD NOT BE CONTACTED" occurs when I click on ADD, then The "Look in" drop
down is disabled and the ADD attempt does not take effect. After I restart
the LOCAL MACHINE, the "Look in" drop down is enabled again but every attempt
to ADD any DOMAIN Userid results in the same error. This is true for all the
computers in the DOMAIN.

1.1) What could be causing this?
1.2) What can I do to solve this?
1.3) Where do I look or start to apply a solution to this problem?

Thanks,

Gilles

Make sure your AD DNS is set up properly and that all computers/servers
point only at the internal/AD-integrated DNS server in their IP properties -
no external IP addresses for DNS. Use forwarders/root hints on the DNS
server itself for external resolution. Does that help?
