I get this error message when trying to run SyncToy for the first time on
VISTA Ultimate 64 bit.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling. Still no dice.

TIA for any help.

Wondering: if I didn't have a file SyncToy needed (e.g. .NET Framework 2.0),
would it tell me the problem is a missing file?

Alternately, is there a way of determining if .NET Framework 2.0 is on my
system?

SyncToy stopped working on my XP Pro system as well.

It returned an error message about some resource on a network was
unavailable. I tried downloading a fresh copy but it would not let me
install. Looking for support, I was required to log on to Windows Live. After
logging on to Windows Live my Sync Toy now works. I guess it's not enough to
log on to your Windows box and have updates validated by Microsoft. Now it
appears we all have to be permanently logged on to Microsoft Live for our
machines to work.

John,

Unfortunately the SyncToy 1.4 release does not work on the x64 platforms
(Vista or XP). If you search this forum, you will find a workaround suggested
by one of the users (which involves replacing the custsat.dll with a 64-bit
version) to get this to work. You might want to try that.

The next upcoming release of SyncToy will fix the x64 issues.

I don't think SyncToy has any requirement to have you login to Windows Live.
Would be interesting to find out what's going on in your case. Maybe you're
trying to sync to a folder that's backed by some storage on a Live service?
