I installed the AntiSpyware last week. All was well
until I had to reboot yesterday. Now I get the error:

Warning, Microsoft AntiSpyware has encountered a critical
error (Error 101). Please restart Microsoft AntiSpyware
again. If you continue to experience this problem,
please contact Microsoft Technical Support at
(e-mail address removed) for immediate assistance.

When I sent them a note, they replied that I needed to
come here for assistance.

The notation to go to Giant for support is a documentation error that should
have been removed.

Can you try this--it's worked for others seeing this error in similar
circumstances:

Restart the computer in safe mode by pressing F8 before the initial Windows
screen comes up.

Run Microsoft Antispyware in safe mode. Then restart the computer normally
and check whether you can still access Microsoft Antispyware.

Bill: I tried the restart in Safe Mode twice. I got the
same error both times.

Sorry - and thanks for giving that a try.

Two other thoughts: 1) are you logging on as an administrator on this
machine?

2) another thing to try: start, control panel, add or remove programs,
microsoft antispyware, change, update

Bill: I am logging on to a network at work. I am not
logging on as Administrator, but am in the administrator
group.

Here's another weird thing - AntiSpyware does not show on
the list for Add or Remove Programs.

I think I'll run the uninstall and try again another day.

Thanks for your help.
