error - shutdown mid clip drag

after I reach about 50 seconds of footage to a video, reguardless of size or
length of footage, its automatically shutsdown the program without warning.
I only use .AVI files for my vids. And ideas?

Only AVI????????

AVI is a container and can contain hundreds of file types, so you could be
using a different one each time. WHat sort of avi is it? If you don't know
try avicodec or gspot to tell you.
