Error saving .ppt to network

I have two users that when they try to save .ppt files to
their personal folders on the network they get the
following error:

<drive:filename.ppt> is currently in use. PowerPoint can't
modify it at this time.

(their personal folders are mapped drives)

I don't know if it's a problem with permissions on the
local machine or if it's a corrupted Default User profile
because if you're an administrator you don't have any
problems.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Nick Taff

Try getting the admin to grant them a higher level of privileges on their
network folder, at least temporarily.

Also, have them try saving from PPT to the local computer then copying the file
to the network folder using Windows explorer or a command prompt.

PPT can be cranky about saving to some network drives.

Thanks for responding Steve. After scouring Google,
Experts-Exchange, and Microsoft KB I found that
the "accepted solution" was to save the .ppt to the local
disk and move it manually using Windows Explorer.

That was originally what I instructed the users to do
(this issue came to my attention months ago, but I never
had time to look into it). So until MS puts out an
official fix, that's what they will continue to do.

Yeah, I've noticed that Office in general doesn't seem to
like network drives.

Thanks for the Help!

Nick
