I have been saving pdf files to flash drive. I am now getting a message that
says, "Error: A problem occurred while accessing this file 'F: (file
name).pdf'. Make sure you have access rights. Any insights?

I am saving scanned items to straight pdf. I'm able to save as file in other
drives. What do you think?

Certainly sounds like a hardware or driver problem. I would replace the
driver for USB.

Go to Start/Run, and type DEVMGMT.MSC , highlight the USB Root Hub
device(s), Action menu, "Uninstall", then restart Windows, to find the device
drivers again automatically.

May sound dumb to you but how do I do that?

I ran checkdisk and got the following message: Warning! F parameter not
specified. I tried to run chkdsk /f but that would not run. Does this mean
anything to you?

My guess would be that you have a flash drive that has a physical button or
slider that makes the drive read only.

My friend said that, too but there isn't one on this flash drive. I've
ordered another one to see if that is the issue.
