Did you install SQL Express when you installed Visual Studio beta?
Did you start the service?

If both are yes, I will have to delve deeper, but this is the first area to
look.

Good morning Sir,

I am working with microsoft visual studio 2005 express edition beta1 version which is a sql server embedded. in this while i am creating database i am getting an eror "Required Component Missing : connection to sql server datafiles(*.mdf) require sql server ver 9.0 or above to function properly please verify the installation of this component or download from url http://www.microsoft.com. what to do and i am new to this. so please guide me
