I get error messages when IE window is open. If more
than one window is open I get an error message when I
close a window. Sometimes I can continue browsing for a
bit before I must acknowledge the error message and
window closes.
I have Windows XP Home. Any suggestions?

Error message is somewhat generic and loosely reads:
Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and need
to close. Sorry for the inconvenience. If you were in
the middle of something that information may be lost.
Please tell Microsoft about this problem. A report has
been created. Please send the report so we may improve
Internet Explorer.
The technical data contained in the error report is very
lengthy and has been sent to Microsoft 100's times. Is
there a specific area I should focus on when reviewing
the technical report that may guide me/?? to a solution?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thank You,
Barbara

You can start by posting the Error Signature.

From a previous post here are some instructions on how to do the latter
in case it is not obvious.

<extract>
If the error window is the same as the one pictured in this article

<title>KB276550 - Description and Availability of Internet Explorer Error Reporting Tool</title>

then you can click on the <click here> link.

That opens another window which is not depicted by the article
but which contains a section titled Error Signature.
You can capture the text under the Error Signature by dragging
your mouse over it and pressing Ctrl-c to copy the selected text
to your Clipboard. Then you can paste it wherever you want for
documentation and further analysis.
