ERROR: Remote Procedure Call Service Terminated Unexpectedly

I am getting an error message which says that NT
WINDOWS/SYSTEM is shutting down te computer because the
Remoted Procedure Call service terminated unexpectedly.

How do I correct this?

I am operating Windows XP and when I got the error I
tried to roll back and restore the system to a previous
day's log but it would not work so I reinstalled Windows
XP.
