I have been using my Maxtor 5000LE external drive for
months - attached to my Dell Optiplex GX110 computer (bios
9), Operating System windows 2000 through a Belkin USB 2.0
card). Last week I installed a TDK CD burner (there was
another CD Rom installed). After that, although the 5000LE
shows up in hardware in the system, I have no access to
it. I get a message E:/ is not accessible. Error
performing inpage operation.
I tried taking the TDK burner out but even then the 5000LE
wouldn't work. I have tried unplugging the 5000LE and then
replugging it in, but still doesn't work. I have tried
plugging it into the computer USB port, and the BELKIN USB
2.0 card - neither helps. I have tried reinstalling the
drive. The drive shows up under Disk Management, it shows
as Sys: Basic; 76.33 GB; online; Healthy. Maxtor's only
suggestion was to change the drive letter. I did this but
still have the same problem. Any ideas? Any help would
be appreciated.
