I've kinda lost my (external) C Drive - again. It shows up in My Computer
but when I try to look into it, it reports back, "Error performing inpage
operation."
I have read lots of post regarding this error message, as well as the MS
Knowledge Base article 141117, but they do not seem to pertain to my
situation. I am not trying to copy files. I just want to explore the
contents of my external drive.
Details: Win2000Pro, LaCie Firewire 120gb external hdd NTFS. (Boot drive is
my internal IBM DTLA 307030 40gb) "Again" means I lost the external drive
contents once before, after trying to change drive letter designation on it.
At that time, it appeared as C Drive as it does now, but when I tried to
access it, it said it need to be formatted.)
Might we have a physical problem with the platters? I'd like to run
checkdisk, but can't get to the drive as it is at the moment. Any
suggestions? (I have recovered the data, thanks to GetDataBack for NTFS.)
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
