Brad

I go to a web site that has a link to a slide presentation. I click
the link, and after being prompted to open or save (I pick open), I
get this...

"Some of the files in this Web page aren't in the expected location.
Do you want to download them anyway? If you're sure the Web page is
from a trusted source, click Yes. "

When I click Yes, I get an error from the website asking me to log
back in. This sends me in a loop.

This file opens in mozilla and I can download it and open in
PowerPoint 2002. Version of IE is 6.0.2800. File behaviour is to
browse in same window. I have tried new window as well. I have reset
every security setting in IE for Inter and Intranets to enable
everything.

I can also open the file from my C:\ drive with IE, so it looks
website specific. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Thanks, but I read that before posting. None of those settings are
applicable to the problem.

Hi Brad,

Maybe the problem is with the site. Do you have the ability to check it
from another PC or post the link and let us have a look.

HTH,
Glenna

Glenna, I suspect it is something with the site, since I can open the
downloaded file with IE from my HDD. However, the error generated is
from PowerPoint, so it is also app related. As I said, other browsers
can open it from the web.
Also, I know of 3 other organizations that have this trouble, and 2
that do not. The ones that do not also run IE6 with Office XP. So
there is a desktop config setting somewhere that modifies this
behaviour.
As to linking to the site, unfortunately it is a pw protected resource
that I can't give out.

[CRITICAL UPDATE - Anyone using Office 2003 should install the critical
update as soon as possible. From PowerPoint, choose "Help -> Check for
Updates".]

Hello,

You might be running into a variant symptom of the problem described in the
following article:

which is fixed in Office XP Service Pack 2.
