Error on media player

When I try to play a cd on my Windows 98 machine with
Media Player 9.0 I get a message that media player can't
play in digital mode and to hit ok to change to analog
mode. After I hit OK media player still will not play
the cd and comes back with another error. When I check
detail it has ErrorID 0xc00d11f8 & ConditionID 0x00000000
Does anyone know how to resolve this issue?
