If I try to click on a link in a page I get an error on
page. The error reads "Line: ***, Char: *, Error: Object
expected, URL: **************
Can anyone help please

That is a scripting error. (a script is a small program that is contained in
the web page you are trying to load). It is the fault (or maybe a feature)
of the web site that you are viewing. You could contact them and let them
know of the problem if you are desperate to view the link.

Hi All,

I have been getting this same error message just going to Microsoft's
Knowledge Base
(http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=fh;[ln];kbhowto). I have a
hard time believing that an MS site that is so commonly used would have an
error of this nature. Also, the error is intermittent...sometimes when I
refresh the sceen the page will work correctly other times it does not.

As for the suggestion by Henri Leboeuf to diable error messages, this just
hides the problem. Yes the error "messages" will no longer be displayed, but
the errors still occur and the web page still does not function correctly.

I searched my local hard drive and noticed the following:

1) When the error occurs, there are many new files in the temp folder with
the cached web page that have size 0.
2) When the error does NOT occur, those same files are several kilobytes in
size.

So, perhaps the error either stops the extra files from being downloaded or
the fact that they are not downloaded causes the errors.

Also, when the error occurs on the Knowledge Base site the drop-down for
"Select a Microsoft Product" is empty.

Any ideas? Is IE 6 busted...or more likely, is my installation of IE 6
busted?

Thank You,
David Estes

On the link I gave posted you would of found this.

Microsoft's Scripting download
Get the latest. Two download versions are available for Windows Script 5.6.
The first version requires Windows 2000; the second version requires
Microsoft Windows 98, Millenium Edition (Me), or NT 4.0. Please choose the
download appropriate for your operating system.

Please Ignore --- rookie mistake

Because I'm new to newsgroups, my reader had not downloaded new posts and so
I didn't notice Mr. Leboeuf's earlier response.

P.S. I am using Win98 SE. -DE
