I'm having similar problems, same error messages as above except I'm on sky (smpt.tools.sky.com) using port 465 for out going mail (as recommended by sky). What I can't understand is why my E-mail worked fine with the trial version of Outlook Express but not on Windows Mail. I have completely uninstalled my Norton anti-virus software and am using AVG.
